De la part des Comités Scientifiques et d’Organisation
nous voudrions remercier tous ceux d'entre vous qui
nous ont aidés en organisant la deuxième édition du
Symposium Malien sur les Sciences Appliquées "MSAS
2002."
Pour ceux d’entre vous qui ont participé, vous avez
remarqué le haut niveau scientifique des présentations
techniques.
Par rapport a la première édition "MSAS 2000," où nous
avions eu des présentations techniques, Session Poster
et des ateliers sur la coopération, nous avons étendu
cette année le symposium pour inclure
1) les cours (longs exposes d'une heure) donnés par le
Professeur Distingué Diola Bagayoko (Luisiana,
Etats-Unis), docteur Abdoulaye Doucoure (New York,
Etats-Unis), docteur Doulaye Dembele (Strasbourg,
France) et prof Blaise Somme (Ouaga, Burkina Faso)
2) Un atelier Académie/Industrie pour construire des
passerelles entre l'Académie et l'Industrie. Cette
partie a été menée par notre Collegue Bakary Sylla
(Dallas, le Texas),
3) Beaucoup d'invités et de participants Anglophones.
Ce qui nous a amenes a faire des présentation
bilingues (anglais/français). Les traductions ont ete
donnees par Docteur Mohomodou Houssouba(Suisse), prof
Diola Bagayoko (USA) et docteur Abdoulaye Doucoure
(USA),
4) Un Club Journal, dont l'objectif était d'initier
les jeunes étudiants de troisième cycle a la
recherche. Notre collègue docteur Doulaye Dembele,
l'initiateur de cette expérience innovatrice, a
travaillé avec des étudiants de troisième cycle et les
faisait travailler sur des papiers qu'ils ont
présentés au symposium. Les 3 meilleurs papiers ont
ete recompenses par le Prix Hassane Doucoure (PHD).
Cette récompense a été nommée après notre collègue
Hassane Doucoure (Paix a son ame) qui nous a quittés
il y a environ une année.
Pour tous ces événements, nous avons eu besoin de
beaucoup de travail et vous avez été nombreux a nous
fournir l'aide nécessaire. Nous savons qu'il y avait
quelques problèmes sur l’information des étudiants à
temps et ferons de notre mieux pour corriger cela dans
les prochaines éditions.
Nous remercions ceux d’entre vous qui, à cause des
changements de derniere minute, ne pouvaient pas faire
le deplacement sur Bamako pour le symposium, mais nous
ont fourni l'information et les conseils nécessaires.
Nous sommes particulierement reconnaissants à Pr.
Nouzha El Yacoubi (Maroc), Pr. Daouda Sangare
(Côte-d'Ivoire), Pr. Wilfred Gangbo (Georgia Tech,
Etats-Unis), Boubacar Mbodji (France) et Jaffre Bruno
(France). Nous espérons que nous resteront en contact
et nous attendons avec impatience de vous rencontrer
au prochain symposium.
Des remerciements spéciaux vont a nos Invités
Distingués (prof Adedoyin du Botswana, docteur
Schoneboom des Etats-Unis, R. Boger des Etats-Unis,
et Pr. Blaise Some de Burkina faso), la famille Sacko
qui a fait un gros travail pour la restauration , le
personnel de la FAST et tous les étudiants et
volontaires qui nous ont aidés avec la réception,
l'information et des questions techniques.
On fournira le rapport sur le symposium dans un proche
avenir et les Proceedings (Actes) seront publiés vers
la fin de l'année.

On behalf of the Steering and Scientific Committees we
would like to thank all of you that have helped us
organizing the second edition of the Mali Symposium on
Applied Sciences “MSAS 2002.”
For those of you who participated, you noticed the
great scientific level of the technical presentations
that, we hope, all of you benefited from.
Compared with the first edition “MSAS 2000,” where we
had technical presentations, poster session and
workshops on co-operation, we extended this year
symposium to include
1)short courses of an hour given by Distinguished
Professor Diola Bagayoko (Luisiana, USA), Dr.
Abdoulaye Doucore (New York, USA), Dr. Doulaye
Dembele (Strasbourg, France) and Prof. Blaise Somme
(Ouaga, Burkina Faso)
2)A workshop Academy/Industry for building bridges
between Academy and Industry. This part was led by our
Collegue Bakary Sylla (Dallas, Texas) .
3)Many Anglophone guests and bilingual presentation
(English/French) was provided. The translations were
provided by Dr. Mohomodou Houssouba, Prof. Diola
Bagayoko and Dr. Abdoulaye Doucoure.
4)A Journal Club, the objective of which was to
initiate young graduate students into research. Our
colleague Dr. Doulaye Dembele, the initiator of this
innovative experience, worked with graduate students
and had them work on papers that they presented at the
symposium. The 3 best papers received the Hassane
Doucoure Award (HAD). This award was named after our
colleague Hassane Doucoure who left us about a year
ago.
For all these events, we needed a lot of work and you
have been many to provide us with the necessary help.
We know that there were some problems on getting the
students informed on time and will do our best for
correcting that in the next editions.
We thank those of you that, because of last minute
changes could not make it to the symposium, but
provided us with the necessary information and advice.
In particular, we are grateful to Pr. Nouzha El
Yacoubi (Morocco), Pr. Daouda Sangare (Cote d’ivoire),
Pr. Wilfred Gangbo (Georgia Tech, USA), Boubacar
Mbodji (France) and Jaffre Bruno (France). We hope
that you will stay in touch and we look forward to
meeting you at the next symposium.
Special thanks goes to our Distinguished Guests (Prof.
Adedoyin from Botswana, Dr. J. Schoneboom from USA, Ms
R. Boger from USA, and Pr. Blaise Some from Burkina
faso), the Sacko family who did a great work to help
gathering the food, the FAST staff and all the
volunteer students who helped us with the reception,
information, and technical matters.
The report on the symposium will be provided in a near
future and the proceedings will be published by the
end of the year.
